what is the difference between comp. programmers and comp. software engineers?

Please give me answers that include, job opportunities, salary, education requirements and actual work. This should be based on Canadian standards.

There really isn’t a difference…it’s somewhat like the difference between garbageman and sanitation engineer. The term “software engineer” is an attempt to increase the perceived skill and responsibility level of programmers and escaping perceived stigmas with the term “programmer”.

With that said, some companies will use the terms differently, with software engineers being seen as a more senior position.
